Awakening Together: Community & Retreat Center
Awakening Together emphasizes that timeless wisdom transcends any single spiritual tradition or authority. It insists this wisdom is “owned by no one and by no organization,” appearing across all religions, philosophies, cultures, and eras. This abundance of wisdom becomes accessible when one “opens their heart,” whereupon “universal grace” reveals it everywhere.

Awakening Together Is An Assembly of Equals

At its core, Awakening Together operates as a peer-based spiritual community--a sangha, rather than a guru-led organization. Its members are united by a single purpose: awakening to one true Self. This unity exists amidst diverse faiths, cultural expressions, and symbols, as the group seeks to discern the one truth and rest in its embrace.

Five Core Values of Awakening Together

  • Unique Inner Guidance — Each person is guided by their own spiritual intuition toward awakening. The community supports diverse paths equally.
  • Equality of Intuition — No individual's intuition holds authority over another’s. Listening, respect, and allowing people to be where they are are central values.
  • Acceptance of the Changeless Presence — Realizing the non-dual, timeless true Self involves letting go of identification with the personal self.
  • Embracing Help Without Idolizing Doctrine — Useful teachings are welcomed, but no doctrine is treated as ultimate truth.
  • Honoring All Forms as Expressions of Awareness — Temporary forms are revered while keeping sight of the changeless awareness beneath them.

Practices, Paths, and Spiritual Expression

The community explores a wide range of spiritual lineages and teachings, including but not limited to:
  • Eastern texts like Bhagavad Gita and Tao Te Ching,
  • Masters such as Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadatta Maharaj, Eckhart Tolle, Adyashanti, and Jiddu Krishnamurti,
  • Christian mysticism and New Testament interpretations, including A Course in Miracles (ACIM) and The Holy Spirit’s Interpretation of the New Testament (NTI),
  • Poets and mystics like Rumi and Peace Pilgrim, and more.

While these sources are studied for inspiration, the assembly emphasizes that true clarity must arise within each person—spiritual teachings are viewed as catalysts rather than final authorities.

Spiritual Practices Embracing Many Traditions

Awakening Together integrates numerous spiritual practices across traditions:
  • Prayer & Contemplation
Group and private prayer, based partly on the Interpretation of the New Testament (NTI) guidance, and contemplation of scriptural or spiritual content to deepen realization.
  • Teaching & Sharing
Inspired by A Course In Miracles (ACIM), sharing one’s insight helps strengthen the inner spiritual voice—not to convert others, but to deepen one’s connection to wisdom.
  • Meditation & Satsang
Silent meditation, mantra repetition, and self-inquiry (as taught by Ramana Maharshi) are practiced, along with monthly satsang sessions featuring guest spiritual teachers.
  • Surrender & Self-Inquiry
Practices include letting go of thought-based identity, following inner intuition, and questioning the sense of “I” to uncover awareness.
  • Forgiveness & Acceptance
Practicing forgiveness (as per ACIM) and deeply accepting what is (per NTI) help release illusions and rest in truth.
  • Observation, Journaling, and Inner Awareness
Passive witnessing of thoughts and emotions, journaling for clarity, and recognizing oneself as awareness rather than the content of consciousness are integral practices.
  • Musical Worship & Devotion
Drawing from various religious traditions, music is a devotional tool that opens the heart and dovetails with spiritual gatherings.
  • Increasing the Desire to Awaken
Cultivating an earnest longing to realize awakening is itself regarded as a spiritual practice.

Awakening Together's Online Sanctuary & Satsang

The Online Sanctuary
The website’s heart is the Sanctuary, a virtual gathering space where spiritual teaching, satsang, meditation, and community sharing occur. Held on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and more, some sessions may broadcast live, while others are accessible via streaming or Zoom. Information on schedules, etiquette, and entry is available via the site’s navigation.

Satsang & Featured Talks
Each month features a satsang with a guest spiritual teacher, offering a direct experience of being with the truth. Recorded talks—from voices like Regina Dawn Akers, Sunny Sharma, Helen Hamilton, and others—are available to the wider community.

Audio & Video Library
Awakening Together shares recordings of many programs—and hosts a YouTube channel for additional content. Audio and video teachings include weekly gatherings, featured guest sessions, and materials from past retreats and talks.
